Has working from home enhanced your employability?

During these unprecedented times, thousands of employees throughout the UK continue to work from home. With the onus on employees to adapt to their new working environments, many have re-learnt certain aspects of their job, alongside new skills like remote working and communication.

How has working from home changed your way of working?

Increased accountability

Working from home has meant employees have become more accountable for their work. With no one else to blame for missing deadlines, a greater emphasis has been placed on how people spend their hours on the job. Excellent time management, and the ability to meet deadlines is a key skill that employers always look for in any new candidate.

Patience and perseverance

From issues with new software, to service outages and even internet troubles; there can be some new challenges when working from home. Patience and perseverance are skills that will continue to develop over time, and are brilliant traits to list on a CV.

Ability to adapt, thrive and learn

As working from home remains the norm for many, it continues to impact the way we communicate and work. With a shift to digital working, collaboration and communication, thousands of employees have had to learn how to use new software, and adapt the way they work. In doing this, it shows an ability to learn and thrive in new settings; something that remains a very desirable trait to employers.

Respecting each other and the value of teamwork

Lastly, during these unprecedented times it’s been more important than ever for people to stay connected. Whether at work, or out of hours, 2020 has emphasised the value of teamwork, and how important it is to respect each other. Empathy and thoughtfulness are phenomenal traits to have, and are indicators of excellent leadership.
